Chocolate Marble Banana Loaf

100g butter softened

175g caster sugar

2 eggs

2 ripe bananas mashed

225g self raising flour

1 tsp baking powder

2 tbsp milk

1 heaped tbsp cocoa powder

2 tbsp milk


  1. Line a 2 lb loaf tin with non-stick baking parchment.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4
  3. Measure all the ingredients minus the cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of milk into a mixing bowl and beat for about two minutes, until well blended.
  4. Split the mixture into two bowls and add the remaining cocoa and milk into one of the bowls and mix well.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin, alternating between the chocolate and the banana, and give it a little swirl if you like.
  6. Bake for about 45 minutes, until well risen and golden brown. A skewer inserted in the centre of the cake should come out clean.
  7. Leave the cake to cool in the tin for a few minutes, turn the cake out onto a cooling rack.
  8. Enjoy!
